I had no idea where to post this...move it, delete it, I dont care.
Anyway, I am catching up to life, so I revisited the MP forums and many people like to complain, and I did not see many kudos...so here is my kudos...Media Portal is great.
The only negative thing I can think of about MP right now is in my sig...there are just SOOO many options...but I love options lol.
My biggest previous complaint about MP was the lack of smooth upgrades...but with RC3+ or somewhere around that time, it seems that is not an issue. I intially installed RC4 waiting for RC5 because it fixed some issues I was having. I executed the upgrade and all was successful, I was quite pleased.
TVServer on 1.02 was excellent...before my motherboard died, it was up and running for 6 months straight (I did not update windows xp sp3). I never once missed a recording...unless it was my fault (darn fat fingers).
The front end crashed every now and then, but I was not worried ever since the TV service came around...it just plugs along with no issues. I had the remote and it was just a button to restart MP.

My wife LOVES the MePo character, but we use BleazleWide v8.1 so she is sad

Well at this point, I have not played much with RC5, but the major issues I had with 1.02 have indeed been fixed. I am sure we all have negative points, but you will always have bugs, issues and what not. They apparently dont bother me at this point, or I am not aware of them.
Installing now is easy as pie...but configuring is still a chore. BUT, in order to accomodate so many different configurations from around the world, I think everyone who has worked on this has done and EXCELLENTjob attempting to simplify and explain it.
The worst part I think, which still exists about Media Portal, is documentation, but I know documentation is a PAIN (I know, I do as part of my daily job).
Again, THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HARD WORK EVERYONE HAS PUT INTO MEDIAPORTAL!!!!!!!
