Synopsis::

Media Portal locks up when exiting avi's & sometimes when exiting TV.

I use Zoomplayer Pro for avi's & ffdshow processing for TV & video playback. Could it be my RAM? Is it normal for a 512mb stick to show up as 447mb? Would more RAM help?

    In regards to the memory, I'm pretty sure that the onboard gfx cards in the NVidia (and most others) motherboards use at least some of the system RAM. Some boards have 32Mb of nuilt in RAM and then use the system RAM for the rest.
    I'm pretty sure you'll find that's where your missing RAM is.
    To improve performance with the built in gfx, I would recommend buying another 512 stick (preferrably matched to the first) and then running your RAM in dual channel mode. Dual channel is pretty much unimportant in regular usage, but with onboard gfx it's pretty helpful.
    I would also check in the BIOS to see just how much RAM is allocated to the gfx card. My guess would be 64Mb from what you have told us. If you get the extra RAM stick, then maybe up it to 128 or 256. It's very unlikely that your gfx card is actually running at 256 at the moment.

    That *may* help with your problems, It can't hurt. Maybe also turn off FFD Show to see if that is contributing anything to the problem.

    Good luck...
