I'm running Media Portal 0.2.2.0 with a Hauppage WinTV 150 TV card. When using the TV remote for my Philips flat screen to adjust the volume of the TV, the played DVD in Media Portal steps forward (volume Philips TV up) +15 sec, +30 sec, etc or downwards - 15 sec, -30 sec, etc. (TV volume down). The IR receiver of the Hauppage TV card sees the Philips TV remote and Media Portal reacts on it. There's no problem with the Hauppage remote. I can't use it to adjust TV volume enough though. Covering the IR eye of the Hauppage TV card when adjusting the volume of the TV helps.

Is this a familiar problem? Is there a fix?

With regards,

Robert.

    Hey Robert,

Unfortunately your TV remote has an overlapping code with the Hauppage TV card (or is close enough to a match that it may as well be the same). There is no solution, because as far as the Hauppage receiver knows you are pressing the button on it's remote. There is no way to distinguish between them.

The Philips IR protocol is one of a handful of industry standards, probably the most common, certainly where I live it is. I'd make an educated guess and say that the Hauppage TV Card uses the same protocol, I know the MCE IR device does.

I can't think of anything you could do to get around this aside from getting a different IR receiver, maybe a Microsoft MCE receiver or a USB-UIRT or something else ...

Aside from that, covering the IR receiver is probably all that will work.

    good luck!
