The latter is not quite a Full Media Centre yet, but its good for the Developers of Media Portal2 And Kodi to be aware of whats else is out there with a simpler user interface and indeed a smarter response and look.

I would like MP2 to offer the same as kodi in displaying media, kodi shows poster & cover art much larger in verious set ups.

PlayerFab is not a full solution, the front end is messy. Please keep MP2 as it is. You can use cover view, if the grid view doesn’t offer large enough posters.

Kodi, Media Portal 2 & PlayerFabFree are all quality products.

Non Technical and Media Beginners sometimes appear to prefer Player Fab Free User Interface, Due to its simplicity.

Scrapers of Media Graphics & Media Information often achieve less than total accuracy when using all three software packages.


Maybe Kodi and Media Portal2 could provide a skin (User Interface) in the style of PlayerFab which would make life simpler for many novice users.

Kodi and Media Portal 2 might like to even provide a graded user interface similar to what VirtualDJ Does.

VirtualDJ user interface has 4 options. Starter, Essential, Pro, Performance, theses categories are unique as applied to VirtualDJ, But Kodi & Media Portal could have possible several levels of User interface complexity,

Quick Start - The software uses default settings users do not have to select any options, Database and Display are preset such a poster wall with info.

Select Start - Users can select options like Which Database & Display options To use, along with selection of appropriate plug-ins.

MediaPortal 2 has much less configuration options compared to MediaPortal 1 and Kodi and as for any other modern HTPC software it can be configured in the client without usage of external tools. The surface of PlayerFab is unknown to me, but "google search" tells me it's made not for our target group. Because of that and missing ressources in our team we can not add any new concepts.
