Hi all,

Well I'm starting to feel a little stupid and also so out of my confort zone trying to setup a Media PC, You see I'm a systems integrator and do system setup for a living using mostly Linux.

So here's what I did..! I spent way to much money on a Media Portal 5000 http://www.vwbinc.com/products.html, it's a custome made motherboard base on a via 1g CPU and CLE266 mpeg decoder, it has a PVR-150 with a custom remote it actually send keyboard codes..?

Anyhow I've manage to get media portal 0.2.0-rc2 installed and somewaht working.
I've install all the codecs and hardware drives and have xmltv working.

The problems I have are :

1- can't play DVD on s-svideo out I get a black screen
2- Can't watch tv get black screen can't change channels ?
3- Somethings BOx reboots when I try to watch tv.
4- I can watch DVD's on PC monitor

I've yet to get anything from the PVR-150 card not sure how to configure it

I would appreciate any pointers

Thanks
Hugues

As far as those Via boxes go, quite a few people have problems with them because A) the cpu speed is not comparable to a Intel/AMD 1ghz processor and is much slower and B) the video card doesnt support VMR9 rendering or DX9 properly.

Youll probably have to make sure its set to Overlay (which will only show on the primary monitor) for now. Overlay has been removed from further use so you may need to get a proper DX9 video card for future use.

    What a was of $$$

Well I guess it back to Linux I go unless there is a way to add overlay support or should I just wait for a newer version of MP ???

This box cost me $800 bucks and so far it's been a reall pain to do anything with it..!

I linux the NIC card does work and I can only get TV -out to work.

    The battle continues...!

Overlay has been removed from newer versions so the official 0200 release wont use it. So 0200RC2 and older will still work.

Its an old renderer and only causes problems with the MP beginners (beyond that reasoning I dont know exactly why it was removed).
