Hi folks,
since I just bought a new TV. The Lg 32LD350, for it's great price and because of the builtin DVB-T Tuner.
Also took a Newstar FPMA-W935 with it for wall mountig.
This would be the perfect moment to replace my current HTPC which is placed in a ugly case and has old hardware(like a AMD XP 3000+). Current one can barely handle 720p and TV-Series is slow because of the many fanarts/banners.
I chose the following hardware:
MS-Tech MC1200
LG CH10LS20
MSI H55M-E33
Scythe Big Shuriken
4096MB DDR3 Kingston
Intel Core i3 550
Seagate 1.5TB 7200rpm
The case: MS-Tech MC1200
I picked this one because of it's great price, but even more because of how it looks!
The case is nicely brushed so it will fit almost every house-style.
Price: 95 EUR.
The optical drive: LG CH10LS20
A great Blu-Ray disc reader. While upgrading my whole HTPC I thought I should get a Blu-Ray reader too, just in case.
The price is great and it can read/write DVD's too.
Price: 67 EUR
The motherboard: MSI H55M-E33
I picked this motherboard because it was adviced by a dutch hardware site as HTPC motherboard. It is very low in energy consumption and very stable. The soundchip also appears to be really good.
Price: 73 EUR
The CPU: Intel Core i3 550
The one adviced was actually a i3 530, but my shop only started from 550. First time I picked a Intel CPU, but was mostly because of the integrated GPU which is able to play full HD.
Price: 110 EUR
The CPU cooler: Scythe Big Shuriken
This one was simple: it's THE HTPC cpu cooler. Also known to fit the case.
Price: 30 EUR
Memory: 4096MB DDR3 Kingston
Two 2GB modules. Adviced was only 2 GB, but 4GB seems to do a better price at the moment, so why not. 2GB actually might come short with Windows 7 as base.
Price: 48,90 EUR
The HDD: Seagate 1.5TB 7200rpm
Sadly the case only has room for 1 HDD, so I picked a big one right away. Has enough room for my series/movies, as my current one is 320GB. Appears to be a quite silent HDD too.
Price: 66 EUR
I won't use the remote that comes with the case as I have a MCE remote already.
I will put some pics in here of the assembling and total picture of my new setup when it's doen.
