In brief, MediaPortal 1.0.2 is superb, so many small changes and tweaks to really polish the application.

I stayed on a pre-1.0 SVN for quite a while, I never got round to installing 1.0, and then was about to install 1.0.1 and 1.0.2 came out - so I did quite a big upgrade.

I've only been using 1.0.2 for a short while, but from what I have seen so far it is superb. I'm noticing lots of small tweaks everywhere, GUI actions are smoother, and there is a progress wheel when selecting a TV channel from the guide! Great WAF!!

Oh and I love the thumbnails that are automatically created for recordings! (btw: any way to force their creation, they are missing for some items).

Team MediaPortal - absolutely great job! :D

As long as the files are in mpeg2, going back out of recorded tv and then re-entering should create these, h.264 files don't seem to be working, not sure if that affects you or not.

I assumed the h.264 ones wouldnt work, but I had a few mpeg2 ones that were empty - maybe I just need to wait a while (I have a lot of recordings)

    MP 1.0.2 is really great.
Good perfomance an very stable. Since 1.0 my mom loves MP too :D

But the thumbnails for recordings don't work for multiseat, right?

Tried a few times last night, but still only have thumbnails for a few files (the newer ones)

Does it just create thumbs for programs recorded with the new MP?

And I do have to agree, 1.0.2 is the best version I've used since I started on 0.0.0.13 :D

Boy your going back a bit there, doubt if many people here remember that, but it was my introduction to MP, or was it the previous version, sooo long ago it seems :)

Does it just create thumbs for programs recorded with the new MP?

Think I'll ask rtv about this one, but as it's not creating them for older recordings, then I assume it must be a recording setting doing the work, thinking about it though, I did a clean install with no settings kept, including sql, imported recordings into TVServer and it created thumbs for those, so bang goes that theory.

Thumb creation is triggered when you enter RecordedTV - which itself lists all recordings that are present in your DB (you might have to import after clean installs).

If mtn.exe fails to create a thumb for some recordings which are listed - please check MediaPortal.log for the reason.
The error I've seen most often in the logs is "all rows skipped" which seems to occur on "corrupt" recordings. Those files might have been altered by videoeditor, contain a PCR rollover or have been recorded with a faulty tswriter. Of course a bug in mtn.exe could be possible as well. You can easily try to call it yourself from a command line. The MediaPortal.log will contain all necessary params ;)

For multiseat I've written a longer instruction in another thread - in short: The best workaround is to have the same path to the recordings from all MediaPortal clients. This is needed since mtn cannot work with RTSP URLs used in multiseat.
Example: On the server put recordings in "T:\TV\Recordings\" and add a network share for drive T: Then go to all your clients and map this share using letter "T:" as well.

Yup, for me 1.0.2 is a far better experience than 1.0.1
    * We had the constant problem with watching recorded TV, and then going to another recorded segment or swapping to LiveTV that we would get Audio but a Black Screen. Also happened the other way around, going from LiveTV to recorded. Promised the wife it would be fixed in the new release ... and thankfully it has.
    * Skipping the predefined time jumps appears a lot faster and more accurate. (running Multiseat with Server and 2 x Clients). Previously you would skip a small interval (15 secs) and sometimes it would actually go backwards. Now, it plays almost immediately, and is a lot lot better.

I wouldnt say Channel changing is any faster, but overall things appear a lot smoother.

1.0.2 seems good so far for me, although I haven't had it running for long.

I had a few freaky things happening but it seems they were mostly down to null settings in the setup after restoring a backup. I first tried an upgrade from 1.0.0 to 1.0.2 (1.0.1 was terrible on my system), and it wasn't at all happy, crashing all over the place. Then I did a clean install of 1.0.2 after backing up my settings with the backup plugin, and restored the backup. Much better, but all playback of ts files (live and recorded) defaulted to paused until kicked off by pressing "skip". Very freaky - then I noticed all the default zoom settings in mp setup were null. Set them all to "normal" and that fixed the problem. I've also had a couple of crashes and black screens on resume, but I think that may have been down to some of those null settings as well - I went through the whole setup and made sure they were all set to something.

At the moment it seems to be behaving itself, and I really like some of the subtle changes - the thumbnails for recordings and general interface response, for example. Not sure about the new "rec" indicator though... preferred the old red blob (but presumably I can copy the graphic over from an old backup, if I can be bothered).

Overall, nice :) - as long as no more stability nasties show up.
