I recently rebuilt my HTPC (see sig) and I'm ready to re-install MP as the frontend. I was running XP Pro SP2 with BeyondTV and MP version 0.2.2.0 for a long time, but it's obviously no longer available. The system requirements for MediaPortal 1.0 RC3 state that XP SP3 or higher, but also states that it won't run with less than SP2. What about in the middle there.....with SP2??? I installed XP Pro SP2 with no updates other than what was on the CD already, so the install is as clean as I can make it. I don't want to cripple Windows, MP or BTV by running SP3 if I can avoid it.

Guess my question is.....will SP3 be required or will SP2 suffice?

There are some issues running SP3 with BeyondTV, which I use and don't want to have to find a fix for. I prefer to run Windows lean if I can, without all the added "bloat". I don't use the PC for anything else except media use, so browsing security isn't an issue for me.

If you don't want bloat in windows, simply use nlite. Slipstream RC3 into a previous install disk, then remove all the stuff you don't want.
Speaking of which, it would be nice to have someone's nlite config posted.

SP2 is really outdated if you don't install the additional updates that are in SP3...
