    Hello Developers,

i have i issue with the new 1.22 Pre-Release. I just install the new Release. After that, i restart my PC. Normal, Mediaportal starts direct after the Reboot.
In this case, i see my normal Desktop. After a look in the Taskmanager, i see the Mediaportal.exe process. Medaportal has start, but i didnt see any Programmwindow.
So i kill the Process and try to start it by Hand (Double Klick on the Desktop Icon).. Nothing happend, but the Mediaportal process ist still started. After 3 or 4 Repeats Mediaportal startet as aspected.

I attached my logs from a fault start. Perhaps anyone could help me.
With MP 1.21 i have no issue.

    grettings Lars

Do you have the Windows Update service enabled?

Can you attach some logs now that it's working please (so I can compare them with the first set)?

    Hello Owlsroost,

I have the same problem. (Windows 7 64bit)
I think the TV service hangs on startup.

The Windows Update service is enabled on my system
but "search for updates" is set to never!

    Best Regards

The log shows TV Service is taking a long time to get past the Windows Update checking stage at startup (approx. 2 minutes) - from the log:

    Code:
    [2019-04-01 17:19:30,636] [Log ] [TVService] [INFO ] - TVService v1.21.100.0 is starting up on Windows 7 Professional (Service Pack 1) x64 [6.1.7601.65536]
    [2019-04-01 17:21:51,384] [Log ] [TVService] [INFO ] - Last install date from WindowsUpdate is 2019-03-18 22:27:56

It's probably the same basic issue that is causing problems for DaBaSe...

Please try the attached patched .exe files for TV Server and Client - I've disabled the Windows Update check at startup, as I think that is what is causing the problems.

Copy the Client .exe files into C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal
Copy the TV Server .exe files into C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server

(after making backup copies of the original files)

Which command is used to get the last install date from WindowsUpdate?
The code is here - MediaPortal/MediaPortal-1

The TV service starts normally when your patches are installed.
Thanks for the very fast support.

I made a little test with a simple powershell script that contains similar commands for checking Windows updates.
Put it in the Startup folder.
    Start-Transcript -Path "C:\temp\test.txt" -NoClobber
    $objSession = New-Object -ComObject "Microsoft.Update.Session"
    $updatesearcher = $objSession.CreateUpdateSearcher()
    $updatesearcher.online=$false
    Measure-Command {$count = $updatesearcher.GetTotalHistoryCount();$updates = $updatesearcher.QueryHistory(0, $count)}
    $count
    Stop-Transcript
    It runs without much delay.
Running 0.7 seconds when TV service start is set to Manual
and 3 seconds when the TV service starts automatically.
The command 'new-object -com "Microsoft.Update.Autoupdate").Results' is much faster (0.01sec) on my system.
But I do not know if it does exactly what you want.
