I wanted to play around with the MP II code a little. When I try and start the client it tries to access xml files that don't exist. Is there an old installer or something that would create a suitable runtime environment?

Or is that what this MPIMaker and ExtensionInstaller are all about?

Hi! I'm afraid that there is no MP2 code available to the public that is even remotely updated to the current state of MP2, so I wouldn't hold my breath while waiting for an answer to this.
    :sorry:

Actually the up to date code if available in the public SVN (as it is now always in sync with the private one). Maybe Albert would like to comment on the error (as it is nice to have someone in poking around the codes).

    Hi CodeMonkey,
the single projects of MP-II use RoboCopy to deploy their resources to the final deployment folder. That's why the minimum deployment environment is Vista. You could put an instance of the RoboCopy program in your search path, then you should be able to build MP-II. But IIRC, MP-II also has a check for the OS and even doesn't start if you run it on an OS <Vista.

Does that mean the final MP-II won't run on XP?

    Yes.

update: and it is a decision that is not open for a discussion :p But as quick reasoning XP is almost 10 year load OS and has huge limitations when it comes to media playback. It will allow us to develop much more robust application when we don't have to create duplicate code as workaround for the XP issues.

oh boy, i predict a lot of hate for that brave decision.

If it's the best for mp i'm fine with that. XP had it's glory days (and considering the fact that MPII will still need a year or even more...).

I don't wanna hijack this thread, but when will mpII become a "public discussion" (i.e. talking about features, ideas, wishes) ?

    Greetings

    Joe

Puh, thats a bummer out of the blue

Considering that I hated vista and switched back to xp I'll have to hope for windows 7. Of course this is your decision and if you say it's not for discussion I'll respect that. Are you planning on releasing a statement which sums up design decisions like this so that the users know what to expect of mp2?
