We are sad that we lost a "tester", but happy to announce that he agreed to contribute as a developer from now on ;)

Thanks to @MJGraf for your work on the WebServer / WebInterface and any other contribution you will make.

The first post of this thread also has been updated with new links to

BTW: When managing your feeds using a good feed reader, your won't miss any MP2 related change and if an action is required, but you won't have the time right now, you can mark them for reading later again ;)

I also found the following repository on github recently: Webradio_MP2 thanks @BigGranu for working on it. (y) Looking forward to it, as I would use such a plugin a lot ;)

Maybe some of the MP2 users have already tested our great WebRadio plugin developed by @BigGranu. We think it is time to present you some of its nice features and awesome abilities in a bit more detail.

Have fun on a tour "through" Webradio! :)

To start you need to download the plugin from the MediaPortal 2 plugin repository and follow the installing guide. Once you have done that and launch MP2 you should find the Webradio button straight in the HomeScreen.

When opening the plugin over 4000 radio stations will show up. Therefore it is nice to have different ways to minimize the stations and only show those you could be interested in either by:

    1. searching for a specific radio station (check for the string in the radio name, radio description or both)
    2. creating one or more filter(s)
    3. creating one or more group(s) of your favourite stations

Lets explain the three different methods in greater detail. Starting with the fastest one...
    Search

While in webradio open the hidden menu, select 'Search' and type in the text/radio name you wanna search for.
    2.jpg

After you have done that all stations matching your search string will be shown.

    Easy, ain't it?! :)
By clicking on the radio station it starts to play (can you believe it? ;)) and you also have the chance to see the title and artist of the current song if those informations are available by the webradio station. For this open the hidden menu and select "Current media info".

    Lets move on to...
    Filters

A bit more 'work' is needed to create your own filter. You can filter either by Country, City, Genre and/or Bitrate. To create a filter you need to open the hidden menu and select "Settings".
    7.png

Once you have done this open the hidden menu again and choose "Filter".
    8.png

After that you get forwarded to the filters screen where you can choose which filter(s) you wanna apply. Once you are ready you need a name for your filter (in this example it is 'MyNewFilter').
    9.png

Last but not least you shouldn't forget to save your filter (the red cross shown above bitrate indicates that the filter is not saved yet). After you have selected "Save" in the hidden menu the red cross turns into a green checkmark and your filter is saved now.
    10.png

Applying your just created filter is easy now. Go back to the webradio screen, open the hidden menu and choose "Filter". A window opens where you can select your filter(s).
    11.png

After selecting the filter you only see the radio stations which are matching your defined filter criterias.

    One thing missing...
    Favourites

Creating a new group of favourites is pretty easy. While in webradio settings, open the hidden menu and select "Favourites".
    13.png

By default there exists already a favourite group named 'New Favorite'. If you don't like this just enter a new name ('MyNewFavourite' in this example) in the message box and click on the rename button.
    14.png

Adding new streams to a group of favourites works like that:
You play a radio station (e.g. .977 Today'S Hitz) and decide that you like it and want to add it to a group of your favourites. While playing the station and being in the webradio screen, open the hidden menu and select "Favourites". Once you have done that, a window opens where you can choose (by checkmark) if want to add (or remove) the radio station to (from) the favourites group (right side of the dialog).
If you want to open your favourites group you can just select it (left side of the window).
    15.png

In the 'MyNewFavourite' favourites group are two radio stations right now.
    16.png

    And the best comes last!
Imagine you watch a movie and can switch to your favourite webradio stream during a commercial break by just one click while the LiveTV picture still plays on your big screen. Not possible you think? Then you have not seen MediaPortal 2!

When you got LiveTV running and want to start a webradio stream you get asked if you want to play your radio stream concurrently to LiveTV.
    17.png

Webradio starts playing while LiveTV plays too in the background.
    18.png

You can switch to Fullscreen LiveTV by opening the hidden menu and select "Fullscreen Video" (or red button on your remote).
    19.png

LiveTV in fullscreen with Webradio as selected audio stream.
    20.png

Switching between LiveTV audio stream(s) and Webradio audio stream.
    22.png

And now name us any other open source MediaCenter which is able to play LiveTV (or any other videostream) and WebRadio (or any other audiostream) concurrently and lets you switch easily between the two audio streams! :)

Feedback and ideas are always welcome. You can post them in the Webradio plugin thread. Also if you miss a radio station don't hesitate to post it and we try to add it!
