MediaPortal always opens the Config Wizrd (1 Viewer)

I just installed MediaPortal on a Win 7 machine. Then I opened the config wizard and set up my videos, music directories etc. Now when I open MediaPortal it always brings up the config wizard, and any settings that I change in there are lost once I close the wizard. Am I missing something here?

I do have the system partitioned with Windows on C:\, Program Files on D:\ and my user profile in E:\ if that has anything to do with it.

    Hi and welcome Astrotolus

Did you move any of the contents of the C:\ProgramData folder? It sounds like MediaPortal configuration is failing to create a configuration file... possibly because it doesn't have permission to create the file. Either that or it is not finding the configuration it previously created in the past and so always trying to create a new one. Yes, your partition configuration could make a difference.

Yes, C:\ProgramData\ is now D:\ProgramData\, but when I looked in D:\ProgramData\ there was nothing but a Microsoft directory in there, the MediaPortal directory was on C:\ so I copied it and all the other directories that were not on D:\ there and now the config file is saved and the actual app opens, so thank you very much.

I must have missed a setting in the registry somewhere to point things to D:\ProgramData.

Think the locations are stored in mediaportaldirs.xml located in the Program Files MediaPortal directory.

By the way, welcome to MP :)

I am having the same problem as described above, but I only have one partition. I have set the permissions to the C:/Program Files/Media Portal directory and all subdirectories to Full for everyone, but to no avail. MediaPortal always starts with the Config Wizard and does not save my settings. Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Hello and welcome Andrew

It is normal for MP to run the config wizard the first time you attempt to start MP. You must click the OK button in order for the settings to be saved to file. If you don't do that, MP will keep running the config wizard until you do hit OK.
    Settings are saved to c:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml on W7 and Vista and c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\MediaPortal.xml on XP.
Those directories are hidden because they contain system files. You should not have to change any permissions on them.

Thanks for the help. Sadly, there is no O.K. button on my screen (See the attached file; The text is a big cut off because I have enlarged it to be more visible on the TV screen).[DOUBLEPOST=1355699843][/DOUBLEPOST]O.K. I fixed it. <Enter> on the first screen worked as the O.K. button.
