I have had he best success with  ffdshow although I have no idea what I am doing. For example: on my HTPC I can choose a ffdshow mpeg4 decoder in MP configuration. On my regular PC, I only have ffdshow decoder and ffdshow raw. I have tried different ffdshow versions, but I can't seem to get the mpeg4 version to appear in my normal pc no matter what I try.  I have also not been able to get CoreAVC to work with mkv files in MP on any of my machines.</blockquote>
