1. Will MediaPortal work with a Video/Audio Streaming device over Ethernet/Wireless?

2. Does anyone have recommendations as to what hardware works well to do the following:

a) Stream Audio/Video over Ethernet/Wireless

b) Translate IR Remote commands into IP over Ethernet (or Wireless) commands and send them to the PC and then have these commands control MediaPortal. Essentially, does MediaPortal include an IP server.

I also want MediaPortal to be displayed on my TV over the network.

Can this all be done with MediaPortal? If not, are there plans to implement these features?

MP cant do any of that, there have been many requests for the Streaming feature but until they deem the core completed enough there is no ETA.

I think question 2b is possible now with HIP. (www.byremote.com.au from memory)

It is kind of like a specialised type of Girder which is free. It allows a lot of great features, all to do with intercepting and controlling input devices, mostly IR based.

As for the streaming, the best we can offer at the moment is full access to all recorded material, just no live TV streaming at this stage. There is a few how to that explain how to get VLC to do live TV streaming for MP but I haven't tried it so can't comment on that.

For what you are after, at this stage it sounds like a simple IR/Video UHF transmitter will give you what you need for under $100 with very little trouble.
