MediaPortal client vs server question (1 Viewer)

MediaPortal Version: 1.0.2
Windows Version: XP
1. TV Card: Hauppauge HVR-1800

I'm currently looking for some alternative software to SageTV. I find SageTV useful because it can have a server run and record TV, add some directories for videos, etc. And then they have a SageTV Client that I can run on any other computer, and it allows streaming of liveTV, recorded shows, videos. And it allows the computer to be placed in standby, and wake up when it needs to record.

I looked through the manual to try to find this, but I couldn't figure out if it was possible to do a similar server/client setup with MediaPortal. I've used MediaPortal in the past just for videos stored on a hard drive, and I'm in the process of setting up one with a TV tuner. Is it possible to run a client like the way I described above with mediaPortal?

Thanks,
- Eli

Yep, that's the Core function of the TVServer design, it goes on the pc that has the tv card\s and does all the standby\resume for TV recordings, MP client can then go on the same pc or any other pc's on your home network and access live\recorded TV and set the scheduling from within MP's epg.

Thanks, that sounds great! I'll check it out this weekend to see how well it works.
