mediaportal crashes on xp (1 Viewer)

I am running windows xp media center,

mediaportal crashes 30 sec - 120 sec after starting the program,
beyondmedia crashes 30 sec after starting the program,
windows media center crashes 1 - 2 min after starting the program,
media player classic and windows media player play videos fine.

what could be wrong?
