I was running the previous stable release of Media Portal fine. I recently reinstated my computer to factory state so I have been reinstalling a of my software.

I decided that I would like to try out the stable RC1 for media portal 1. My error occurs when I try to install. When I install RC1 I am brouoght ot a self extraction screen, I leave the extraction to the temporary folder already chosen for me and click on install. Everything seems to unpack fine then I am brought to the error:

"MediaPortal.DeployTool.exe - Application Error

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application. "

Ii get this everytime I try an install, I have even downloaded the install exe several different times to ensure it wasn't a bad install file.

I figure I can go back to the pre-RC1 release, but I figured I will give the support forums a try first. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

:D

It is true, I did lack the Net 2.0 Framework. My system had not installed that after my reinstall. I have it installed and Media Portal has installed correctly now.

It may have been more helpful for me if you had said something closer to "Media Portal requires you have Net 2.0 Framework, make sure that is installed on your computer" instead of your cryptic roundabout solution to my problem.
