I deal with that problem several days and was searched up tens forums and asked about help, but still not success. I'm just love MediaPortal logic and nice interface and thats why I dont want to give up. There are 2 type of issues.

1) MP doesnt play some avi files (in example videos XVID with AC3 codecs, lets name that File A). In same time MP plays other avi file (Lets name it File B) with same codec combination. Also, seems that all other mediaplayers (BSPlayer, MPC_HC, XMBC) playing File 1 ok. I discovered that same issue are with some mp3 files. Its just doest play this (says that unable to play and announces codec type).

2) Second and more serious problem is with H.264 files. I have Zotac ION (ITX) with Atom 330 processor and Nvidia 9400 graphic card. I tried tons of settings, loaded MPC-HC ax standalone codec, loaded Cyberlinc codec, because I understand that MP doesnt support Nvidia Purevideo technology. Or vice versa. Anyway MPC-HC plays same 1080p video smoothly but in MP it is so jerky that is unwatchable.

1)With this problem i would suggest that you check your codec settings. For the times that i experienced such problem uninstalling, reinstalling and checking all codecs setting settings solved it for me.Are you using a codec pack as that might be whats leading to your problem

2)For handling H264 files i use CoreAVC, i think nothing compares to it maybe you should give it.

If you havent seen it already, please have a read through THIS thread, particularly in regard to how gemx set up the machine. Some of the information there may help with your issue.

What are your current codec settings?

    Have you tried SAF?

Yes I tried SAF. Not worked for me. I tried MP under both OS's. Finally it plays almost normally under Win XP (thank for Core AVC hint), but under Win 7 Core AVC takes 80-100% CPU and plays bigger mkv files very jerky.
That same file MP doesnt play under Win 7 either (AC3 and XVID issue).
