I am new to Media Portal and so far I think it works great. I recently had to reboot Windows and startup fresh, not too long after setting up MediaPortal, but now after re installing the application, on the little MediaPortal startup screen, it says "Initialize texture manager..." and is frozen. Any ideas on how to unfreeze? Thanks.

I had this problem several times in the past. The reason was in the thumbs directory. Try to rename your actual thumbs directory and create a new one. Then try to start AP again.

sunflower, thanks for the reply. Renaming thumbs? I'm not quite sure what you mean. Do I do it in the configuration program or am I going to do this in the actual files though the c: drive in the program folder? Thank you again.

If you got to your start menu\programs\team-mediaportal\mediaportal\user files, this will take you to the folder where thumbs folder is stored, rename it to thumbsold and create new one and see if this stops this from happening.

Thanks Paranoid, It seems like it doesn't just jump to the "Initialize..." freeze right away, where now it does run a few process' (well at least on there little startup popup screen looking thing) and then finally gets to "Initialize texture manager..." and then freezes again. Any other ideas? I double checked everthing and i'm running the current versions of all the required software. And it has worked in the past. Thanks to anyone who can help. Again, thank you Paranoid.

    Hi MrWilldoo,

What skin are you using? Is it actually compatible with the version of MediaPortal you are running?

(If a skin is not compatible, it pops up a message box waiting for a prompt - so I'm wondering whether that's what is happening for you, but maybe the message box is behind the MP initialisation splash screen ........). Otherwise, there could be a skin problem - maybe try a different skin and see if MP starts OK.

    Cheers,
    Craig

Thank you for the reply...nothing again. Still freezes...would you think its something with my computer? Everything is up to date. And I didn't change any hardware, its all the same as before, just doesn't work.
