Hi,

I'm new here so please bear with me

I have been only successful to install MP on a windows7 OS, i have tried installing it on a Windows XP SP2/SP3 and Vista SP1/SP2 with no luck.

Here is my situation, i don't have internet access all the required files by MP i have downloaded from work and installed them in the my HTPC, when installing MP under XP or Vista i get a error that MS DOt Net Framework is not installed, doesn't Vista/XP come with it on the service packs?

Anyway downloaded all the frameworks 3.5 and installed it, MP still does not want to install, still reports that i don't have the MS Dot Net, I know i have other programs installed that require the MS Dot Net for installation and they install fine

Please help guys as i don't want to do , MP is great, love the app

:D

darro, thanks for the response,

I have tried installing all the Dot Net Frameworks, yesterday on my fresh install of XP SP2, i installed all the Dot Net Frameworks starting from V1 up to V3.5, sad though as the problem still occurred , tried this on both SP2 and SP3.

Does the MP DeployTool work behind a proxy as i have searched and i cannot find out how to, at work i have we have a proxy so i cannot use the DeployTool, error message that i'm not connected to the internet

So all the files that i have downloaded directly from MS without the use of the DeployTool

Well finaly fixed it, all the DOT Net versions i previously downloaded were around 30/50mb files, yesterday dowlloaded a 300mb DOT Net file from the MS Site, i think its called MS Dot Net SP1.

Installed it and it fixed my problem.

Why does MP still want to connect to the internet even if you have all the required files installed?,i still feel the installer could be made more user friendly for people without internet connectivity.

Part of the problem also comes in, which again is internet related, all the databases work on downloading information from the net to work properly, so your experience with MP will be a bit disappointing from a visual aspect, as no info for movies, or albums, and of course 2 of the most popular plugins, Moving Pictures, MP-TVSeries, rely totally on the internet.

Hope your experiences do not put you off to much.
