1. TV Card: Hauppauge 2250 dual tuner (in mediaportal reported as WinTV-7164 BDA)
1. TV Card Type: dual tuner
1. TV Card Driver: 10/24/2011
MPEG2 Video Codec: MPC (Gabest)
MPEG2 Audio Codec: MPC
h.264 Video Codec: LAV
Remote: Gyration
TV - HTPC Connection: HDMI

Reproducible every time:
1) Start MP
2) Guide
3) Record a channel
4) Attempt to watch another channel
5) ERROR: No free card available.

So, searched and tinkered for 3 hours, have not found a solution.

Other issue that demonstrates what happens INSIDE media portal, while using only the tv config, but gives a different error.
1) Start TV config
2) Manual Control
3) Highlight 2nd tuner
4) Start Timeshift
5) ERROR: No Video/Audio Detected

Did my best looking through log, saw tuned to different transponder, but did not find a solution either.

Have tried enabling/not enabling CAM inside Tv Config on each tuner, as well as disabling EPG in the Tv Config for each tuner.

LOGS attached.
MORE INFO: Yes, I have the card setup as hybird, as in the guide. Should mention that after going nuts for awhile, I wondered i there was a chance the card was bad, it is not. Started up Windows Media Center, set a channel to record, and while it was recording I could watch another channel. So...its a setting in MP somewhere, just don't know what. Tried card delays as well.

TIA

How have you set this up as hybrid?

I can't be sure, but I assume that this card effectively has two hybrid tuners, so that tuner1 will be a hybrid of one digital tuner and one analog tuner, and tuner2 will be a hybrid of the other digital tuner and the other analog tuner.

Full logs and screenshots on SetupTV would help here.

If I could change title to SOLVED, I would.

Yes, I followed the Hybrid guide. Unfortunately the email notification of my post didn't include that, as had gone back to edit it shortly after making the post because I realized from searching it would be one of the first things asked :)

Ok, so I'm not too stupid to realize when I deserve some lashings, or that maybe I was too tired to think about trying the most simple things available before wasting hours of life force looking for a more difficult, and non existent solution.
That being said, truly, check out my first post and the edit time, you can see that I said I followed the guide. I only said that, because I did on my first install of MP, before deleting/reinstalling quickly. My second time around, I dis-activated the analog tuners, and thought I setup the hybrid according to the guide.

Being aware of my noobness to MP, and it being a fresh day with a fresh mind, I was thinking, no way after my last post as I went to go double check the hybrid setup guide. I shook my head in disbelief and slapped myself with some raw tri tip beef we had in the refrigerator. I knew IMMEDIATELY what I had done wrong.

During my second install of MP, I did not create 2 separate hybrid instances, I absentmindedly created ONE hybrid instance with both of the digital tuners. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

Anyway, this instance helped put me in check with my roots and remind me, that when something doesn't work, start from the GROUND UP, whether I think I did something correctly is irrelevant, troubleshooting works great with analytical checklists, and I started my checklist in the middle, rather from the beginning.

Thank you very much to both of you, and I can't believe I got owned by a simple "did you follow the hybrid guide?" 3-4hrs of fairly intelligent life hours lost due to failure to start troubleshooting correctly. ARG ARG GARRRRRGggggg....

But yay!!!! It works!!!!!!!!!! (so much emotion lol). Hopefully this posts helps others in some sick way.
