Hello Everyone,

I am a new member here and just assembled a HTPC that is hooked to a 52" Sammy as primary monitor. I also have the LG Bluray/HDDVD drive and have been happy with the set-up so far. I stumbled across media portal today and I have been very excited (read 'kid in disneyland') to see this package.

Behold my disappointment when I tried installing and I kept repeated errors that Xp 64 bit is not supported
Is there anyone who has installed this on their Xp Sp2 64 bit machines? I am willing to work with the developers if they are looking for someone to help to test the new releases as well.

- deeps.

I tried with no luck and had to buy the upgrade to Vista 64.

I was so annoyed at myself because i just built a new pc just for MP and bought XP 64 without checking if it was compatible.
But to be honest now its all setup on vista 64 it works so well and was worth paying the money for an upgrade to Vista.

I have a 32 bit copy of vista available with me but do not want to go near vista and I am quite happy with XP so far. I am planning to wait for the next windows release to upgrade. Any other 'hack' options?

sorry - dont know the answer but interested to hear that there are 64-bit drivers for your tuner card(s). Just out of interest, what sort of cards are you using?

I do not have a tuner card yet. Since I intend to use this as my workstation, a 64 bit appeared reasonable. I am very surprised why the developers here did not opt to release XP 64 bit. I am certain there should be fair number of performance enthusiasts who do not want Vista and prefer 64 bit XP. Since the XP 64 contains the WOW64 (to run the 32 bit native), I am assuming I should be able to run the XP 32bit on my XP 64 bit OS.

Are there any gurus here willing to give this a shot?

I am using the Hauppauge Nova-T 500 with no problems. I downloaded the 64 drivers and seems more stable now than it was on XP32.
Oh and it works perfectly with the Harmony 785 remote through the Hauppauge IR sensor.
