These Subversion-snaps are compiled at about 01.00h (CET).
You can also visit the official irc-channel (#mediaportal) to get a notice when its ready for download. The trigger !svn gives you the latest update too.
They are not pre-tested, so please use the backup option from time to time.
If you'd like the bleeding edge code and don't mind the inherent risks, upgrade to the snapshot releases as they become available.
If stability is important to you, you might want to stay with the fully-tested releases.

How to install MediaPortal SVN-Snapshots in short:
1) Install MediaPortal 0.2.3.0 RC1, not necessary if already done
2) install .NET Framework Version 2.0
3) Run the Snapshot-Installer. You should create a backup.
4) Run Configure. Sometimes the settings and database versions change from build to build, so you have to reconfigure your TV for example
5) Hopefully enjoy the new version
6) If not, restore your old files and you will have the former version back.

Important notice: The backup function wont work for Vista atm, here you need to save your configuration manually. A rewrite is planned but will take some more time for testing.

Overlay freeze

I’m running my main HTPC in dual screen (clone) mode on a 19”LCD monitor and a 55” Rear Projection TV(2nd display). I have the system setup so it displays video/tv in overlay mode on the 2nd display. This allows me to watch full screen video/tv on the second display whilst using my LCD for other things like internet/e-mail. I can minimize MP on the LCD whilst the overlay on the TV still works perfect.

Since the 14th of March 2007 something has changed, and if I minimize MP on the LCD the overlay on the TV freezes, sound keeps running, until I maximize MP on the LCD again, then everything is back to Normal.

At the moment I’m still running “MediaPortal-svn--03-13-2007--01-03-Rev13369.exe” since this is the last good working version for me.

Since this version I’ve tried the new/latest SVN twice a week, but every time the same problem of the overlay freezing, so I keep reverting to the SVN of 13/3/07. Even the latest SVN with 0.2.3RC1 has the same problem.

Is it possible for one of the devs to look in to this problem, I would really appreciate this since I like to upgrade to the latest version due to some other bug fixes.

It's getting better and better, but since about a week or two/three a memory leak in the tv engine re-emerges. When I leave it running (and i've tried svn versions since) for a night.. it hogs 400+mb !! a bit less when I leave the service at idle (that is. not timeshifting) It also used to use approx 20mb residential.. not it's more like 60-80 right after starting up. Could be perfectly explainable ofcourse, just noticed.

I can also confirm that HDTV h.264 is not working with the Cyberlink Codec.
