Replying on your statements:
1) Indeed the first startup was slow but after that it was better, still XBMC is more responsive then Mediaportal. I don't know if there is a way to configure Mediaportal so that it is faster.
2) About the resolution of the TV sometimes it's giving in the full screen mode a 4:3 screen sometimes it's correct.
3) I'm using a Synology 207+ as a NAS server. There my movies and music are stored. I use Samba as a protocol so that the EEEBox with windows xp can find all the content. How much does the zapping time has to be? What system do you prefer to use? XP or Vista for Mediaportal?

I have read that network shares in MediaPortal are slow - so you use Shares or database view?
Is it the GUI that is slow - or loading the shares list?

I do not understand your question 2 - sorry!

For the startup - nothing really that you can do, I run MediaPortal 24/7, so never see the startup screen.

Thanks for all the information. It's running already better now as I was using my Iphone together with EventPhone and EventGhost, the reaction is then slower then if you are using a normal keyboard. Tonight I will try to use a MCE remote for it.

I have another question, how can you make the zapping times better? I have now a lag of 5 seconds on the client. If there is some trick I would like to hear that.

On my other PC which is a Mac mini in my living room I have installed Windows Vista 32 bit SP1. Everything was working fine there with Mediaportal natively running on Windows but from one day to another I don't get video picture when I try to access a stream online from the internet (*.asx or other extension). Movies are running still well. I only hear the sound and don't see the screen of video like if it is put behind....do you know of a possible solution for that? Could this be a codec issue? What would you advise to use as codecs?

I have for music for example 40 GB of data and it's not the GUI after clicking on the GUI but loading all the music as a list is what is slow for me. I use a Synology 207+ as a NAS server for all my data and its using samba as share protocol.

In MediaPortal configuration you can adjust the zap/osd time. A high zap-time allows you to zap through the channels without actually tuning to them to preview channel-name and description. A low zap-time allows for faster channelchange.
