MediaPortal woes (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

I'm finally going the plunge for Freeview|HD here in New Zealand, and I bought a TV tuner card and downloaded MediaPortal to help me there. I've hit problems though.

After lots of edits to the configuration, I've finally got Prime on UHF Analog to work, but the quality with my roof UHF aerial was almost perfect with the TV's tuner and its fuzzy on MediaPortal and the audio is out of sync with the video, and we're only a couple of kilometres away from the transmitter. Digital is almost completely broken, it collects EPG fine, but I can't watch TV (Cannot start timeshifting: No video/audio detected) and MediaPortal didn't pick up all the channels.

I am using MediaPortal 1.0.0 RC3 with an ASUS MyCinema-P7131 Hybrid card. If I left anything out, tell me.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Karamu,

    welcome to the forum.

Yes you left out the only two things that we need to help you:

    1. Forum -> User Cp -> System configuration
    2. Logs.

    We still can't see them :p :

User Cp -> Edit your details -> Display system specs -> YES

Logs can be collected with "MP log tool" from Programs menu or looking at %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\

Seems like you have a lot of issues in your configuration:

    Code:
Exception :Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Timeshift'.
      site :Void WinIOError(Int32, System.String)

    Code:
    Exception :Unable to start graph
      site :Void RunGraph(Int32)

    Code:
Exception :The database backend (provider MySQL) could not be reached.
    Check the connection string: Server=media;Database=MpTvDbRC2;User ID=root;Password=[B]******[/B];charset=utf8;Connection Timeout=300;

First of all fix your timeshift path, then verify the DB connection using "c:\program files\Team MEdiaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\SetupTv.exe -c" from a command prompt.

Then delete all logs and retry.
If it still fails, upload new logs ( btw, you can use the go advanced->manage attachments to upload files directly here).

and you have also two TSReader on your system:

    Code:

Ok, digital doesn't come up with an error anymore, now it just has a blank screen. Does the duplicate TsReader cause problems?

EDIT: Well, I just tested all the digital channels, we're 2 kilometres from the transmitter and we have our UHF aerial pointed straight at it, and the signal quality is really bad, but the signal strength is really good. None of the digital channels play, but they all timeshift. I have no idea why the quality is so bad, and it is kinda frustrating too. =P

    Karamu,

please try removing the GBVR software and see if this make any difference ( as the second TsReader is coming with it ).
Also review your cfg for Television codecs:

    Code:
2008-10-26 13:04:26.062500 [ERROR][MPMain]: failed filter:Nero Video Decoder HD not found Nero Video Decoder HD

Also stop TVServer service, delete all logs, restart TVServer. This way we can see if yo ureally fixed all issues because in your logs I can still see

    Code:
Exception :Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Timeshift'.
      site :Void WinIOError(Int32, System.String)

I uninstalled GB-PVR and the other media centres currently installed except for MediaPortal, now it doesn't play any TV at all. Would it be related to the TSReaders?

Anyways, I eventually found that alot of other people in New Zealand had exactly the same problem as I had with this card. So, I'm going to get a brand new Hauppauge Nova T 500 to replace this. That will hopefully make it all better.
