i am waiting for this a long time, because it s so anoying to set up all the emus to work correctly...

the biggest problem for me was the different keys on the game controller, so that every time i reinstalled mp, all my configurations where gone.

So if you can get a mega distribution to work, how do you will solve the problem with the different keys on one normal (ps2 like) controller?

All in all: Please do it!

all my controllers are laying around till somebody will make a distribution like this!

Regarding Justchill's request on closing the emulator with a remote: I'e tried to look into it but it is to complex at the time beeing. I do not have the time to research how to do it since it would require some kind of other process running and catching system calls somehow, I don't know...

Can't you do something to kill the emulator processes? You know what files are running; killprocess zsnesw.exe. First you have to return to Mediaportal and then you should have an option to close it (cfr EMUcenter plugin on Vista media center)

No, since the emulator has the focus. That means I can't catch any keypresses, because they all go to the emulator. Killing the process is no problem, the hard part is to know when to do it. By the way, this discussion should continue in the main thread.

Not yet. The problem is that the MPI tool doesn't support absolute paths, only relative. My idea was to install the emulators to C:\My Emulators\N64 and so on and then I could hard-code the database file (that needs absolute paths) because I would always know where the emulators are located. Now I need to use relative paths, and hence modify the database file after installation so I will need to create an install tool for myself and not just rely on MPI. Since this is more complicated than what I first thought and I have already started developing the next version of the plugin, I'll wait until I am finished with that and work something out at that time.

i think you should include the batch file used to make a fake emulator that you can then go into that shows all your pc games, as described in this thread: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/my-emulators-247/emulator-configurations-44459/:

PC

Multiple games

Path to emulator: insert_path\pc.bat.exe
Path to directory with ROMs: insert_path
name shown in Media Portal: PC
Filter for showing files: *.*

Advanced
Use quotes in paths: yes
Execute without arguments: no

additional requirements:

create a batch file called pc.bat with this code in it:
Code:
%*

Then point the "Path to directory with ROMs" to the folder containing the shortcuts to your PC games and leave everything else default.
