Microsoft legacy EPG still working? (1 Viewer)

I am in USA and have been using Ms Legacy for xmltv EPG. The other day I noticed the guide data only to July 24. Now no data is populating the guide listing at all. I have repeatedly downloaded and it says it has acquired the data however it is not showing up in the guide. Has Microsoft stopped updating the data and I'm downloading old data causing it to not populate the guide? Otherwise is the new MS EPG data still working and will it continue? Is there some other issue I should be checking?

short answer, as of last weekend (July 26 2015) the m$oft legacy option is dead and you will need to use some other EPG option. There are 2-3 the MP threads on this topic, for example

Media Center EPG and mc2xml Problem, https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/media-center-epg-and-mc2xml-problem.131337/

the green button, very long/sad tale of woe http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8903&sid=bddf32876a8acc637e771fdca0b36592

    avsforum http://www.avsforum.com/forum/26-ho...850-big-wmc-guide-changes-starting-today.html

the mc2xml download page has more info, looks like the "donator version" can work but I have not personally tried/verified that. http://mc2xml.hosterbox.net/

for USA EPG I think the options are

schedules direct plugin, $25/yr to setup account

schedules direct account + mc2xml(v1.3) and xmltv. for command line use the following. (336 = 24*14) Also need to delete the mc2xml.dat file and do 1st time setup

    Code:
    mc2xml.exe -T USER:PASSWORD -d 336

or WebEPG/imdb, for a large cable lineup (100's of channels) I would not suggest that option due to large amount of webpage traffic it generates.

have not tried WebGrab++/tvguide, I think the older version described in setup guide is out of date, you'd need to look around WebGrab++ pages to see what options work for USA. Have not tried this option for 2+ years.

I can confirm that the mc2xml donator's version is working using Legacy (zap2it) and the regular (Rovi) data. Looks like for know Legacy is the way to go. Too many small changes in the naming of shows using Rovi data which result in missed recordings. More info in the links posted by Ron.

@gonzo90017 thanks for the update on mc2xml/donator working. If I get time I'll update some of the setup guide info.

Not surprised that some recordings don't work. In the past if I've switched between WebEPG, mc2xml/xmltv, SchedulesDirect I had mixed results with recordings. Seems like there are just enough "name differences" between EPG options that most but not all "name based" recordings work

It's even stranger this time. Rovi sometimes spells the same show differently. Even on the same channel. Sometimes they replace a capital letter with a lowercase letter. Which means series recordings are missed. Only fix is the make 2 seperate series recordings.
