I need a driver for the microsoft remote contlrol and receiver 1.0A MODEL 1040 for use in win xp.

If running Win XP SP2, remote should be recognised when you plug the receiver in.

Make sure you have the update KB888795 provides support for remote\keyboard for version 1039 remote, assume if it is a genuine MS remote, that should do it.
