Just letting others know in case they run into the same problem.

I came home for lunch and found my up/down scroll and right/left click buttons no longer worked on my ATI RemoteWonder II. I could move the mouse pointer around but couldn't select or scroll.

Apparently this was caused by Microsoft Update 951376 that addresses security bulletin MS08-030 "Vulnerability in Bluetooth stack could allow remote code execution". Uninstalling that update through control panel add/remove programs restored all functionality. The file updated is bthport.sys. I don't know why this caused a problem nor have I done any further investigation into alternate paths to resolution beyond uninstalling the update.

I know this is a windows problem, not a mediaportal problem, but I'm posting the info here in case people come looking for help with their remote that suddenly stopped working.

The good news for all MCE remote users, it has no effect :)

Seriously, you need to point this out to ATI, and see if there is a updated driver fix.

moved to remote tips n tricks, its liable to be around longer for people to spot.
