Hi,

I've been drooling alot over MP and MP MyFilms, but since I have a rather big database within MyMovies, I never took the effort to even try to migrate over to MP. But now, when zebons added MyMovies XML-support, the case is a whole lot different.

I exported the XML from MyMovies, added it in MyFilms, and it reported back that the right ammount of movies where added to the database of MyFilms. Firing up MP gives me a fine list of all the movies, but when I try to play one, it gives me the error "Please insert disc, disc no = <ID/movienumber within MyMovies>".

I've tried both setting the disc on MyMovies to a folder, or direct link to the file, and export to XML, and import into a new database in MyFilms. Still show the same error-msg.

Have I missed something here? I'm quite new to MP and MP MF, so don't shoot me yet :-

Do you fill the setup fiel 'Ant Item for Storage File info' with 'URL' ?

Haha, I guessed it would be something easy.

Now, however, I've encountered another problem. I play .mkv-files just fine in VLC/mplayer. Is it the same way with MP/MP:MF that you need to be able to play the movie in WMP or similar, to be able to play it inside MP/MP:MF? Because when I click "Play" on any given movie, it starts reading off my HDD (the LED is blinking) for about 10-15 secs, then it remains on the movie-page where you can click "Play".

Is there any special setting I should set, f.ex. under Setup > Movies > Movie Player ?

Update #1: Even when I try to play a normal XviD .avi-file, the HDD starts working for a few secs, but it stays on the same picture.

Update #2; After pressing "Play", the screen-animation freezes (the text etc) while the HDD is active. When the HDD stops loading, the animation continiues.

The plugin must find the filename of your movie file... are you sure that the information is correctly filled in your db ?

Even if I choose "Update" after selecting a movie, and choose the moviefile itself, it acts the same way. HDD start loading. Animation freezes. Nothing happens.

edit2: If I enable "Use external player" under Movies > Movie Player, and point it to VLC, and then press "Play" on any given movie, it starts VLC, and plays the correct movie flawlessly. So I guess the link to the files are correctly in the dB.

Take a look on the mediaportal.log or error.log files (in the log MP's directory).
Try also to read your movie with the standard My Videos plugin; if it's working there, it'd work with mine...
May be it's a codec problem ?

I deleted error.log and MediaPortal.log, started MP, went to My Videos, tried to start the movie. Same error as with My Films. The HDD started to load, and after a few secs, nothing happens. I then went to MyFilms, and tried the same.

According to the log-files, it's the same "error" that happens in both "players".

So atleast it's not a problem with the links.

I see that you try a mkv file , there are some problems with that kind of file (search on the forum for solutions here for ex). Can you try with an avi file ?

Wasn't aware of that MP didn't support mkv-files out-of-the-box. Followed your link, and it works just fine now.

Thanks! :)
