The following is related to MyVideo - not to MovingPictures.
Sometimes on update to the latest revision of MP we have to create a new database for video - if it is specified in release notes that old DBs cannot be used.
It is not a problem:
- if you have 10-20 movies (but I have > 300);
- if IMDB grabber works properly (currently in RC2 plot & year are not imported - earlier it worked);
- if you are not crazy about changing movies' names like "Tomorrow never dies" -> "007 - Tomorrow never dies" or "The Terminator" -> "Terminator" (the latter comes since there is no sorting rules for articles "A", "The", "Der", "Das" etc).
So, I think that we ultimately need to have a special migrating tool to import existing DBs.
This tool must work as a part of installation procedure on User's command.
