milkdrop 2.21 with MP1.2 Beta - instructions here (1 Viewer)

MediaPortal Version: 1.2Beta
MediaPortal Skin: Blue3
Windows Version: Win7SP1
Video Card: Nvidia_GeForce_7600_GT

For all people with interest in running milkdrop visualization in MediaPortal I can confirm that is is working smooth!

Short, but complete instruction:

1. ----------
- Install Winamp (Winamp 561 tested and confirmed working here)
2. ----------
- Configure milkdrop within Winamp, do NOT select to start in full screen mode
3. ----------
- Copy the following files together in to one new temp folder

1. User Program Data path (e.g. C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Winamp\Plugins)
milk2.ini
milk2_adapters.txt
milk2_img.ini
milk2_msg.ini

and

2. Winamp Program Files path (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\Plugins)
vis_milk2.dll
Milkdrop2 (wholle directory)

Move all of them to the MediaPortal 1.2Beta Program Plugins path (e.g. C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins).

Select Milkdrop as the Visualization Module in the MediaPortal Configuration, section Music->Visualizations.

Just because a single thread with clean instructions is not found. The other threads contain alot of outdated and wrong information.

Other thread contains information that this version of Milkdrop will not work correctly with MediaPortal. For example, you don't see song title in visualization window and the visualizations don't follow music..

But they do if you upmix to 5.1, hwarrmann is looking into why this now is, obviously some change that has happened between 1.1.3 and now brought this on.

except that you are configuring milkdrop in WinAmp (you can do this in MP config) and this creates the ini file

Interesting that WinAmp creates two extra ini files but I do not believe they make a difference

By creating the ini within MP it failed to run on my setup.

This would happen on MP1.1.3, where the files were stored under visualisations\plugin folder, this bit is fixed in MP1.2.0beta so should not be happening, mine works fine when file created after opening viz config.
