Hi, Don't know if this had been said already but i'd love to see a better windowed MP. Something that only takes up the space of your actual video view. Just like the rubbish prog WinTV from hauppauge. But this would have all the great features of MP and make proper use of those clever codecs like nVidia's purevideo.
I like to watch the odd TV prog while surfin the web. MP takes up a bit to much desktop space at the mo and is quite difficult to change between windowed and fullscreen. Would be great to see this change. Just a thought. :)

I was just thinking about this a little bit. After the new TV engine comes out, I am hoping people will be able to create different clients for what they need them for. Let's say you just want to watch live TV and be able to change the channel. At this point you could just click on your very small adjustable screen client. This would allow you to have none of the standard MP interface and just a small window for viewing shows..... Just a thought.

If your TV-card is supported; use D-scaler. Excellent app.

PowerCinema is also a good alternative... but pic is better when I used D-Scaler

Or get a digital TV with PIP funtion, can put a nice little picture of varying sizes anywhere on the screen.

Only wish is, it would save my position settings when changing from HDMI to DTV and back.

That's because MediaPortal is no simple "TV viewer" like the listed ones above this post. It's a HTPC application, designed to run 24/7 on a TV set. If you need a TV viewer, get a TV viewer. ;)

One of the few things I like about Windows Media Player is the mini-mode (where it will sit in the taskbar and you can pop up a 175x125 pixel window to watch your videos or visualizations). Maybe this is smaller than what you were thinking, but it could be a neat feature for MP too.

Of course, the minimizing/maximizing is an issue while watching TV (picture freezes), but with the awesome devs around here, things are getting better all the time. Hooray!

Since the new TV engine is said to have support for multiple front ends, it seems like this would be relatively easy to hack together in the future. Just a lightweight TV viewer that would pop up, immediately showing TV and just have a context menu for selecting the channel.

Thanks for the replies. I was going to use D-Scaler as Okay suggested, but my Hauppauge Nova-T isn't supported. Might give Power Cinema a go when I have a mo. Just thought it would be nice to have everything I need in the one program. Also i've got MP the way I like it. Don't want to spend ages setting up new progs and rescanning my tuner.
