I've got performance issues with my set up, and not sure what I need to improve. I had thought that my system would eat SD for breakfast, and just about cope with HD. However, it struggles with SD. Summary as follows:
1) recorded TV just about watchable, but fast forward etc... doesn't work.
2) Searching the guide is impossible. My computer goes to sleep before I get results (might have something to do with 500+ channels to search, but even then is very very slow!)
3) Might as well forget HD TV
4) Live TV stutters and is unwatchable

I don't want to upgrade everything if I can get away with a targetted approach! Is there a minimum spec for both Server and Client that I can compare my system with?

(a single core sempron processor was absolutely fine for ealier versions of Media Portal, and my current machine has 4x the juice)

Hi onetoomany, I would say that your hardware should be more then ok for this.
I don't have any experience of running 1.1 on client + server side - my main system has 1.0.2 and recently I'm doing some tests with an extra client, a 1.1RC1 on an Athlon II X2 240, 2GB Ram, W7-64 and this runs fine.
Could it be that you have another issue?

Maybe check cpu/memory/network usage of both machines before and during playback.
Is this the first MP release that you are using?
Are you running other software that might hold back ie anti-virus, firewall, powersaving utility? If yes, disable this.
Did you try with VLC to play one of the files on the server over the network?

This is what comes to my mind, if not tried yet already, do so and maybe someone else has other suggestions.
