I've searched the forums and tried finding the answer in the documentation part with no success.
My question is:

During the configuration of codecs for TV,DVD and Movies - when will they be used?
If I select a codec for TV, will that codec be used for
-Viewing?
-Recording?
-Watching recorded content?

For DVD, will that codec be used for
-Viewing both from DVD disc and from HDD rips?

For Movies, will that codec be used for
-Viewing everything else that has not been recorded with a TV-tuner (what about downloaded TV content?)?
-Viewing of non DVD material?

Can somebody with knowledge about all combinations please explain this? It should really be documented in Documentation for MP. Selecting codecs are really messy.

Can anybody point me to a guide on how the merits work?
