My media portal pc is finally working as it should, but he doesn't play MKV files yet. He shows the image but it looks like the movie is paused. I can go forward the movie 30 seconds then i see frame but it doesn't start.

I've installed:

CoreAVC
FDDShow
VSFilter

And i'm running Windows XP. It does play WMV files, and DVD's are also working fine.

Does anybody have an idea?

haali media splitter, should have been installed with CoreAVC codec, was it.

Its within haali config you need to set autoload VS to yes

Like i said before this is installed, the weird thing is the movies do play if i play them within windows with WMP11. So not within MP. But i will change the setting you wrote, see if it helps.

Yes the movie starts now, but after a couple of seconds the movie hangs on a frame. The sound continues for a while and then also stops.

The computer doesn't hang, i can still use ctrl-alt-del. So it's within MP.

Have you tried updating to the latest CoreAVC.

If you play the file in MP in windowed mode, with taskmanager running what cpu is used, is it very high.

What are your graphic specifications for the machine your playing this on, could be the overheads graphically may be to much.

Coreavc 1.7, if change the Haali media splitter buffer from 8192 to 16000 and so far so good. The machines are:

    E6600 - P5B Deluxe - 2GB - 6200TC
    5200+ - GA-MA78SH - 2GB - onboard 3200HD

So that should not be a problem imho. The cpu usage is 40-50% on the first pc i mentioned. But is it a know trick to increase the haali buffer, or am i just lucky?

    Sounds good if this HD

Not heard of this, where did you get that idea from.

From looking at the haali option screen, but it didn't work. The movie hang after about 30 minutes. The second pc where i didn't change the buffer is still playing the movie correctly. I've add 3 movies to the playlist so in about 5 hours i'm able to tell if the second pc is working fine now.

But that still leaves me (or us ;) ) with the hanging problem on pc 1.

Edit: mmmm the second pc, shows stottering and frame skipping so that one is also not working properly. If not mentioned this before but i'm running the movies form a server on a Gbit network. But the movies do work fine outside MP within WMP11. Plus the network traffic is little so i don't think that this is the problem.

Mediaportal on pc 1 got stuck, i've got the auto created zip file, maybe it's usefull if i email this to someone?

If you go to the advanced post option + this allows you to upload files, once done close the upload screen, with the same button there is a scroll arrow which allows you to attach the uploaded file to this post.

Hey your either used to this or not :D

The crashing only happens when i alt+enter the screen so that not really relevant. What i did do to increase the network performance is turn jumbo frames on on the networkcard en turn QoS off. Again i don't think it's relevant because the movies do play fine outside of MP but you never know.
