monitor my tv bitrate? (ati tv tuner, chris tweak) (1 Viewer)

Hi I Have tried to install the Chris Tweak utility to adjust the bitrate of mye sapphire theatrix (ATI 550) tv tuner.

As I cant see the figure directly, I recon that I can do a recording and check the values there (as MP doesno transcoding). However, I get very large values. By going to "My Recordings", and clicking properties, it says for instance 83000kbps, or 83mbit. Surely, this must be wrong...

Also, the cris tweak app lets me choose audio encoding to be either MPEG1 layer 2, or LPCM. But bitrate is still max 384 for a locked 48kHz samplerate. Does this mean that LPCM is forced to this low rate using very few bits, os simply that the gui item should have been disabled when lpcm is selected?

Just a note: (L)PCM 16 bit stereo 48kHz is always 1.536 MBit. Can't be lower/higher cause it's uncompressed pure data. Looks like your infos are fooling you a bit there.

Of course, but nothing states that it is 16 bits.

I agree with your conclusion, though, most probably the source is a 16bit/48kHz stereo stream that either can be passed lossless or mp2 encoded.

My main worry was that something about the hardware mpeg2 encoder limited audi bandwidth to 384 max anyways, so that it either had to lowerword width or samplerate.

Well, if it's compressed to MPEG audio, 384 is a very high rate. Could even be that this is the maximum for your card. MP uses MPEG audio and AC3 only, btw. PCM is not used and usually not delivered by the cards.
So I guess despite your setting to LPCM, your card delivers a high rated MPEG audio stream. Would make sense.
