Does MediaPortal support more than four tuners?

I ask because the 'Scanning' page in 'TV Server Configuration' only has tick boxes for sats #1-4

I'm wondering about the TBS 6909 Octal tuner card but don't understand how it could be configured, so any info appreciated...

Yes.

It will auto configure. You only need to tick "Enable DVB S2 channels tuning/scanning" on every single DVB S2 tuner you have recognized in your TV Server.
Then you can do a channel scan on one of your tuners, no matter which one. When finished you can map all channels scanned with this one tuner to every one of the other tuners and you are ready to go.
Multiple channel scans are only necessary if you use different type of tuner cards (e.g. DVB-T and DVB-S2) or if you have only a few of your tuners equipped with a CAM..
