Movie Database - Local Thumbnails Instead of URLs? (1 Viewer)

I have a collection of home videos for which I want to use my own thumbnail images. I find that when I place a .jpg file with the same name as my movie file in the same directory, it is used by MediaPortal as the thumbnail when I browse My Videos "by Share".

However, when I browse "by Title", these thumbnails aren't used. Instead, it appears that MediaPortal looks for a URL in the "strPictureURL" field in the "movieinfo" table in the "VideoDatabaseV5.db3" database. This is the field that is populated with an Internet link to a movie image for each title when you do an IMDB scan.

I would prefer to use my own thumbnails (on my PC, rather than on the Internet) when browsing "by Title" just like when browsing "by Share". Does anyone know how to get this to work?

I've tried putting a link to my thumbnail file in the "strPictureURL" field, but this doesn't seem to work with local paths - it only seems to work with Internet URLs. (Even for my movies that are in IMDB, I'd prefer to have local thumbnails; my HTPC isn't always online.)

Anybody got any ideas? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Goto Movies > Movies Database > Editor > Coverart and click Browse for local image and select your jpg, it then stores a copy of the the image in C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\Thumbs\Videos\Title.

I had some coverart that wasn't picked up by the internal search so I manually downloaded it and added it this way as I had them backed up.

Do you know if there is plans to support PNG?

Previously, I use *.png files for movies not in the DB, and I can have some shadow effects for my DVD's as well as tilted icons.

With this view, it automatically turns the PNG to a JPG and shows the transparency as a black background. :(
