Movie Renamer? (1 Viewer)

Hi guys,

Here is a little request.

I've been looking everywhere on the internet for a program that could read a filename, detect the proper name from IMDB and rename my file to <title> (<year>) specifications. I had no luck however.

Since you already have a script that gets info from IMDB, I was wondering if it was possible to build a program that can do this.

Maybe even put it in Moving Pictures.

We do have an issue for this in our tracker. I think this is a fairly low priority for the project though as renaming files doesn't really impact usability with Moving Pictures. I think we will get to this before long but I would not hold my breath, it will not be for a while...

Okay, thanks for your reply.

It's just that it would be really handy if I had to add titles again.

Like now, I moved all my movies to another dir and it has to add them all again, I have to manually approve the same titles again. E.g. Clerks 2 -> Clerks II. Would be useful if it had just renamed it.

Well this is a slightly different issue. We recognize that problem as well and have some plans. Probably we will do identification of moved files through a file hash, it's still a bit up in the air though. But rest assured, we plan on implemnting something to solve this problem fairly soon.
