Please forgive me for asking this, i am certain that an answer to this issue is out there somewhere but i cant find it. i have been searching this forum and the web in general for a resolution to this problem for a week lol. i am sure i am just not searching for the right word combo to get what i need.

here is what i have, i have 2 usb drives with a combined total of 580+ movies on them. i scanned both of these drives in to the movie database. this took over 24 hours btw.

when i look at my movies it shows i have over 2,000... and it lists each movie at least twice some times way more than that.

for example, it shows 'When Harry Met Sally" 10 times. here is list of what is in that directory:

Volume in drive F is Iomega HDD
Volume Serial Number is D4B0-4E24

Directory of f:\When_Harry_Met_Sally

i used DVD Shrink 3.2 to burn all of these movies to these usb drives.

the movies seem to play just fine... but this is obviously not a desirable situation.

i have been using XBMC but it is very clunky and seems to randomly not show my entire library of movies. but it does show my movies only once per movie.

this may have been way too much info, but i have looked at every setting i can think of to fix this.

thank you so much in advance for any help you can give, i am really liking mediaportal a lot more than XBMC!

Forgot to mention that i have "Folder name for title (each movie in it's own folder) checked in the settings for "Video Database" as well as "Every movie has it's own directory" checked under the General Video settings.

    Hi goalie41

I think it is because the movie has 10 IFO files. My understanding is that movies are only meant to have 1 per disc.

Actually your directory structure does not follow DVD directory structure (VIDEO_TS subfolder missing):

    e.g.:

    F:\When_Harry_Met_Sally\VIDEO_TS\....ifo, vob, bup files

There is no problem with more ifos inside if VIDEO_TS.IFO exists.

thank you so much for this information!

if i understand this correctly, i could write a batch file that creates a \VIDEO_TS\ folder in each movie's directory and also have it move any .info .vob and .bup files in to that video_ts folder to solve this issue. it seems that all of the files are going in to the video_ts folder, are there any that stay in the root typically?

im quite the noob at this.

All files go in the VIDEO_TS folder, though you could put an image in the root called folder.jpg, so that MP could show an image for the movie when browsing.
Slightly off topic but there can also be an AUDIO_TS folder (along with VIDEO_TS) but that is for music videos (apparently) and is unneeded. Open and and view any DVD and you will see both folders though AUDIO_TS is typically always empty.

ok, well i put a batch file together that added the folder and moved all the data to the video_ts folder and that seems to have solved the issue. i still see a few duplicate movies but i think that is a scraper issue because i have a few movies listed twice or 3 times, but they are movies like blade, blade, blade. instead of blade 1, blade 2, blade 3. i even have a few movies in my library that i dont own lol. so time for some tweaking there.

    thanks so much yall!
