I really like MP, but :
Vista Media Center shows you a thumbnail of a movie by capture a snapshot from the movie itself.
In MP , if you didn't downlod the picture from IMDB or you didn't create a folder.jpg inside a folder, you will not see any thumbnail of the movie. instead you'll see a default boring icon.
This is really doesn't look good to see a default icon as the movie thumb'.

Is there any solution for this issue ? any plugin or something which can show me a movie thumbnail without needing me to do so ?

Thanks

Never used MCE how does it decide which frame to take us the Thumbnail as thought you can end up with some completely irrelevant frame. I personally like the DVD covers.

The TV Series plugin also provides a thumnail of each episode in MP so it is certainly possible, I think the authors of MyVideos and MyFilms just decided the cover was a better image. Agree though that if a cover is not available then a frame snapshot would be nice.

That's what i mean !
The cover force you to name the file correctly as like in IMDB and
I don't always have the time to correct names or download covers pictures.
It will be great if MP team will add this feature of showing snapshot of the movie if no cover exist.
Is there anyway else i can do it my own , i.e with a plugin or something ?

It looks for the lightest frame within first 7 seconds of scanning file, if there is not one it's black.

Yes the pictures are totally irrevalent, mostly of paramount startup logo, so without a name you would not know the film you were watching, DVD covers much better (xface).

Use th database scan for imdb grab, you may have to do some manually.

The picture is most of the time relevant and its better than a default boring thumbnail.
I think it looks much better (this is a recorded tv screenshot, but movies looks the same) :

Yes, but this thread ends without any solution...
I really think its a good idea and probably i'm not the only one.
Microsoft is right about this issue, it looks better than a default icon.
See the picture in the beginning of the thread.
Regarding to the first frame that may be black - in VMC they don't take the first frame but few seconds after that , and no screenshot is black.
