moving dvd subtitles (1 Viewer)

When I watch a DVD with subtitles I would like to be able to move the subtitles to a lower position on the screen. For example it would be nice to move the subtitles to the unused part of the letterboxed picture (eg a 2.35:1 film on my 16:9 plasma)
I use MPV as DVD codec and FFDSHOW as postprocessing (upscaling).

When using VobSub for avi or mkv files i can move subtitles as i please. Is it possible to get VobSub to handle DVD subtiles?

MP itself doesn't render DVD subtitles so its not possible to change that placement.

I thought so. Could I use the subtitle setting in ffdshow (if I use ffdshow as decoder)
