Hello All:
My MP started crashing all of a sudden, and it is due to my movie drive/database.
If I delete the setup that points to my movie folder, it loads fine.
When I go to moving pictures config, and add the folder, the second that happens, it crashes.

Is there a crash log for moving pictures? If not will the MP crash log display it (not sure where to find it yet).
Thanks,

Jason Pichie

Sounds like your are importing a file that is causing issues. Most likely with MediaInfo.DLL trying to get the resolution, codec and other info from the mediafile and crashing on the bad input.

The log files are easy to find, use the Start Menu shortcut for MediaPortal to open up your "User Files", and then go to the 'log' folder. You should however adjust MediaPortal config to use 'debug' mode for the log files, so they contain more information to solve your problem, but the default Info mode might just contain enough to help you find the corrupt/bad mediafile you are trying to import.

You can also disable MediaInfo during the MovingPictures import process via the gear icon, and you can also consider updating the MediaInfo.DLL file, with the current 32-bit stand-alone DLL file that you can download from their SourceForce project website. Especially if you dable in some of the latest container and codec combinations, the odds of running into a problem with MediaInfo increase. And if you run into the wrong problem a crash in MediaInfo will bring down MovingPictures or MediaPortal (it uses it as well right before any playback starts) in a bad way.

If you're on Windows 7, you can find all logs here:
    C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\log

    (It's a hidden directory!)

More info about logs can be found in the Wiki

well not sure what happened, but my permissions were all mucked up on that drive.
I was able to change the owner and file permissions, and everything is working fine. All thanks to the logging.
    So thanks to you two.
