Moving Pictures missing some movies (1 Viewer)

Hi,

i have a rather larger film base (2000+) that is stored on several drives in a folder tree structure. Each movie is in its separate folder, but depending on movie the depth of the folder structure varies.

e.g. \action\Ironman1 is only 2 deep
but \directors\bryansinger\xmenseries\xmen1 would be 4 directories deep

i think moving pictures means to recursively scan the folders, but it's definitely missing some folders right now. Adding folders to the path manually allows the movies to be detected, but i haven't managed to figure out what exactly the rules are for the importer in moving pictures reg. which folders it looks into.

Could one of the developpers explain that here? Ideally full recursive scanning would have been best...

Our scan is of course recursive so I doubt your problem has anything to do with the depth of the directory structure. Have you checked if the missing files have a common (and perhaps slightly unusual) file extension? Moving Pictures will ultimately only import files with an extension in the video file extension list as defined in the main MediaPortal config.

If this doesn't solve the problem, try posting some debug logs and maybe we can help further.

hmm, strange.

the path
\\projection\mov1\downloaded movies1\documentaries\science, technology and machines\
refused to scan, while say

\\projection\mov1\downloaded movies1\documentaries\fun

worked without an issue.

I've shortened that first folder to

\\projection\mov1\downloaded movies1\documentaries\STM

which seemed to do the trick. unclear whether it's because the string got too long for the software, or just that resetting the folder to another name triggered something...

anyhow, issue seems resolved for me now.

Glad you got it resolved. I will do some tests with folder names with commas later to see if that was actually the problem.
