Moving Pictures question (1 Viewer)

I have my htpc, which for a while i cannot get internet on. I also have a small laptop that can get internet but is not powerful enough to watch movies thru mediaportal. How can i use the laptop to download the moving pictures info/thumbs and then transfer those to my htpc?
