How many TV Tuners can MP handle, running under MCE?

I have had numerous problems running all 3 (rather recording 3 files at once). I read that MCE can only handle 2, is this in fact correct? Since re-formatting my hard drive with just the basic services and installing a fresh copy of MP 0.2, I am still left with the same problem in that only two will record and I am left with a third file of only 5.48KB.

As for as MP goes, it happily recognises all three cards, maps channels correctly and there appears to be no specific error messages in any of the logs. All card have different priorities.

On further testing and reading the logs again, it now seems that the Cinergy card is the culprit for not recording and there are hundreds of "Tuner locked: false
DVB graph unlocked...wait for tuner lock" all surrounding card 2, which is the Cinergy. I removed ALL cards from setup and just added Cinergy and now I get "no signal detected and black screen" I have been mapping channels from the Nova-T and Compro, which shouldn't matter right?

So the 5.48KB files are all coming from the Cinergy card, which won't tune or display TV, although I can't really see any errors than those mentioned. What should I do next? Unfortunately I can't post the error logs right now as the LAN is down...

Any else suffering problems with this TV card? The time spent suffering with it, maybe I should look for another card? If so, which one will work untroubled alongside the two others?

I have seen some favourable comments in these forums about the Compro DVBT300, and they seem to be atractively priced - maybe that is the one to go for?

I don't have a Compro DVBT300 myself, so this is not a personal recommendation.

BTW, it sounds like your Terratec Cinergy 1400 is faulty (or, is it a driver issue with this card - are you using the latest drivers?) - is it still under warranty?

    Thanks Taipan for your comments!

I agree that the Compro is a great card and have never had any troubles from it or the Nova.

Frankly I am sick of the Cinergy card and am willing to ditch if from the stress it's caused. Yes I am using the correct drivers (XP 32bit version) and no, it's no longer under warranty.

If I'm to spend the money replacing it, I just wanted to make sure that there would no reason why I can't replace it with one of my exisiting cards, or an AverMedia A16A DVBT (which is on the MP list as supported) and includes futureproof HDTV (which the UK can get organised about).

Yup, though I dont think thats a MP problem. Its the manufacturers problem because they havent agreed on a certain way as a standard. Because of that mixing and matching dvb cards can be somewhat risky.

That may be so, but it doesn't seem to matter what cards "ScanChannelsBDA" is used with - it always returns the correct centre frequency - so it looks like it is possible to code around the manufacturers' lack of consistency..... :?

Hence, I still believe that it is an MP problem.

Ok I wasnt aware of that. I had read something in the Hauppauge forums which stated that it was a problem (read: manufacturer inconsistancies) which occured in software using BDA drivers I just assume it was all software.

Does this happen with the Cinergy on ALL channels?

Are you able to check the frequencies of the channels stored in MP against what they should really be? As Callifo suggests, this may be the cause of your problem? (refer to Mantis bug # 722)
