    Back on topic.

    From very recent testing.

If using MPAR you may find AV sync not spot on, if so then the reg setting ' EnableDWMAudioDelayComp ' set to '1' cures this completely.

I have this set to '0' with default directsound normaly without issues so ensure you try this reg setting if you experince AV syn not so good.

    Would dshowhelper effect pixelation?

With default 1.3 I get pixelation on every channel change or ff/rw skip for around 3-5 seconds. With the latest dshowhelper on post 1, 95% of the time it's perfect. But every now and then it pixelates and doesn't sort itself out. Sometimes the whole picture, sometimes it blurs on smallish moving objects, like when a person turns their head.

Not sure if dshowhelper can help resolve or shall I lean towards testing older amd drivers (12.10, dxva lav 54.1)

If you can help let me know what is needed? Logs, video recordings etc

This bahaviour is on 2 different single seat systems albeit with the same tuner and gfx cards. Both do the behaviour above and both have improved considerably with the latest dshowhelper

    Many thanks
    Ian

If this is H.264 content, it may be the AMD hardware decoder (DXVA)/drivers - there have been issues with some driver versions at least - there is a forum thread about somewhere.

(and yes, TsReader.ax does seek to I-frame boundaries)

    Yes it's h264, never seen it on a movie/film - only tv.

Yeh there is a amd thread I follow, no one has reported the issues on 12.10 (posts indicate all is well). I can try rolling back the driver later to see if that helps.

Anything else to try? Bit weird the dshowhelper effects it the behaviour.

    Thanks
    Ian

(and yes, TsReader.ax does seek to I-frame boundaries)

With H264 content this might not happen when zapping between SD and HD channels (I cannot test HD to HD as I receive only one HD channel) as there is always huge image corruption (just like I-Frame data would be missing).

I know last time it happened was when my gf was watching tv, she was on bbc HD and very bad pixelation occurred, she switched to bbc sd to continue watching.

When she told me I switched back to bbc HD and all was ok.

Using default dshowhelper it occurs on every channel change for roughly 3 secs (and when I use the skip steps). The latest dshowhelper is perfect most of the time, I rarely have the pixelation. I'd have to go back to default helper to test he older amd drivers :)

Is there anything that can be done to improve things with dshowhelper or tsreader do you think? Or is this definitely a amd issue here?
