MP and SageTV can it be done? (1 Viewer)

I have been away from MP for a loooong time now. I having been watching it grow from the sidelines and I am really wanting to return. I had problems in the past with the TV portion and still do in the current build (RC2 and RC3). Here are my relevant system specs...and yes I know it is an old machine, so lets not start bashing my HTPC, a new build is eminent.

P3 1ghz 100mhz fsb
1 Gig Ram
ATI Radeon 7500 AIW - Omega drivers based off CAT 6.3
DVI -> HDMI Sony KDF 60xs 955 @ 1280x720p
Hauppauge PVR 150 retail w 45 button remote

The MyTV module has always been very choppy and slow to respond. SageTV on the other hand, runs very smooth. I run everything in overlay, due to my old video card's lack of proper dx9 support. I tend to believe this is why MyTV runs so poorly. So finally my question is, can I run MP as the frontend and switch to SageTV for the PVR functions? And if so, can it be done seamlessly with a menu item in MP? If not, can someone help me get the MyTV module running smooth?

sidenote:
I'm a numpty now?! that's a little harsh according to http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=numpty :cry: ...well I guess I do feel like definition # 2 at the moment.

Maybe I didn't explain it well enough. I just want a button on the MP main menu to switch me to SageTV when I want to watch recorded tv. Then I want to be able to switch back from SageTV to MP when I want to browse all my other media. I don't really need my Sage recordings showing up in MP, I just want to switch back and forth between the apps.

Oh ok you haven't tried the MyPrograms plugin?
I did, but I don't think I figured it out quite right. I don't think it switched me over at all, and the button was buried two menus deep, not what I really want. I'll give it another whirl though.

I'd rather not alt+tab, that doesn't look very seamless.

Can anyone confirm my theory about the choppy myTV in MP. If I could get that to work well, I might not even need to do this.

    It probably is choppy because you dont pass the recommended (minimum) requirements. A P3/P4 1.4Ghz and a DX8.1/9 video card so you would no doubt be maxing out the cpu just running the UI.

    ...well I knew it was something like that...I think my ATI is only DX 7 compliant. Time for the upgrade.....
