Hi all

I have just purchased a new pc and installed MP with Streamed MP skin, Trailers, Showtimes & Online Videos plugins. All are working fine except the following two issues :

The home button on my MCE remote will only minimize to tray sometimes and also about 50% of the time when watching movies I have sound but no picture.......Just a black screen. Both issues are highly frustrating and any help would be greatly appreciateD. I have attached system specs and logs, hope this helps.

Very likely to be a codec issue. The video you tried to play in the logs is an Xvid video - the MPEG video codec gets used. Your codec preferences for videos are:

<entry name="mpeg2videocodec">MPC - MPEG-2 Video Decoder (Gabest)</entry>

<entry name="aacaudiocodec">MPC - MPA Decoder Filter</entry>

Try using the FFDShow video codec which definitely supports Xvid. I'm not sure that the MPC MPEG codec supports Xvid compression.

Thanks for your response, I have just tried this and still no joy. It's doing it on pretty much every video type I have too. I have uninstalled SAF and installed klite to no avail. think maybe the problem is inherent from a previous installation. I had the same issue on a my old computer and was unable to resolve it. I've bought a new pc and done a clean install, I've used the same MP installation files on my laptop just to test it and all works fine on there. The only difference between the two installations is that on my pc I copied my old program data team media portal file over so I didn't lose all my moving pictures backdrops etc. Could there be something in this folder causing the problem? If so. Which folders do I need to keep my moving pictures backdrops, certs, ratings, synopsis etc? I had to manually input hundreds of them and really don't want to go through that again if I can help it. I'll try wiping everything and starting again. All these files play fine in WMP, it's only within the MP environment I get the black screen.

I have just loaded Media Portal 5 times. Three times it plays the file with sound and no picture just a black screen. The other twice it worked spot on, both video and audio? Would I be right in assuming if it was a codec problem it would either work all of the time or not?

Please could some one tell me which folders i need to enable me to keep my backdrops, ratings, synopsis etc for moving pictures and tv series plugins?
Then i can start a clean install.

All "user files" can be found either by the shortcut In MP config, or in START menu Mediaportal.
